Seasonal Fruit Series: Grapes — Featuring Takako Kikuchi [ Artist Statement ] When I was invited to participate in the Grape Fair, my heart leapt—for a fruit lover like me, it felt like a dream. Grapes vary so widely in color, shape, and taste that, unable to settle on just one, I created my favorite varieties in cloisonné and arranged them over freely painted backgrounds of mineral pigments. I hope this exhibition recalls your own joyous moments of choosing and tasting grapes at the venue.
