Makiko Satake — An Aizuchi to the Far Shore, and After

Satake returned from Tokyo to Miyagi after the 2011 earthquake and remains based there, visiting affected areas and shaping her work from the scenes and lives she encounters. Taking the word “aizuchi” as a clue, she presents new work depicting Miyagi and Noto — two lands that have known disaster.
